How to use the ChatGPT splitter.

Load a file or paste your text

Pick one or more plain text files, or paste your long text straight into the box. Everything happens in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

Click „Split Text"

Your content is cut into chunks of about 8.000 characters each, and the first chunk gets an instruction telling ChatGPT to just store the pieces until you say otherwise.

Copy the chunks in order

Copy chunk 1, paste it into ChatGPT, wait for „OK", then copy chunk 2. Keep the order — each chunk is labelled so ChatGPT knows where it belongs.

Ask your question at the end

Once the last chunk is in, ask whatever you need. ChatGPT now has the whole text in the conversation and answers against all of it.

Common questions about the splitter.

Which file types work?

Plain text files — .txt and .csv. Word and OpenDocument files are compressed formats, so reading them as plain text produces garbage. Open those in your editor and paste the text instead.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The splitting happens entirely in your browser — your file never leaves your device and nothing is stored.

Do I still need this?

Often not. Newer ChatGPT versions accept file uploads and handle far longer conversations than when this tool was built. It still helps when a paste is rejected as too long, or when you are on a plan without file upload.

Why does the first chunk look different?

It carries the instruction. It tells ChatGPT to store each piece and reply only „OK" instead of summarising as it goes — otherwise it starts answering before it has the whole text.

What if ChatGPT starts explaining the text?

Send the chunk again. Each chunk repeats the instruction at the end, so replaying it usually puts the conversation back on track.
